This IICRC Certified 5-day hands-on Combo course was designed to prepare you for real on-site action drying a residential structure in live time in our flood house.

Exposed to the elements, our 1024 square foot home is a fully functional, fully furnished environment with various types of carpet, under pad, various painted finishes, hardwood, vinyl flooring, wall materials, contents, cabinets and substrates.

This Applied Structural Drying Technician (ASD) course component assists attendees to demonstrate knowledge to perform drying in live time! Students will embark in conducting a true sustainable practice by setting up structures to dry without material removal. Having an understanding of water impacted materials, how they hold and release water, its effects, and making decisions to provide the most effective techniques for drying structures.

Upon achieving this certification (if students choose to write the exam, passing with a 75% or higher) you will demonstrate you have the understanding and know how to handle a structural drying water restoration project from start to finish. Using the techniques learned, you will be able to determine the necessary procedures and processes to be effective in managing these jobs from start to finish. Students will perform emergency services, monitoring and will assist with ongoing drying evaluations using the techniques required to dry hardwood flooring, carpet, under pad, sub floors, with use of heat supplementation. Water losses can be very scary and there are a lot of unknown factors. Customers will often believe that mold will grow within minutes and that they must remove the wet materials quickly. Wet building materials can often be dried safely if you know what to do and when. Many wet materials can be dried, it depends on their ability to be restored back to a pre-loss condition. Some wet affected materials need to be removed as they swell and cannot be restored. Others can be dried and salvaged. This course will assist in the determine of these factors. The categories of water, refer to the range of contamination in water, considering both its originating source and quality after it contacts materials present on the job site. This course also addresses the principles of general safety including: Structural integrity, electrical hazards, personal protective equipment use and when it may be necessary to use of HEPA filtration.
